Roll Formers can be designed and manufactured for a wide range of roll forming systems, for use in a variety of different industries and applications. Roll forming solutions produce accurate profiles from both coil and sheets and from a wide selection of materials.

Heavy gauge roll forming is significantly more flexible that hot forming, allowing for mass production of uniform shapes. Many manufacturers offer the ability to run from blanks or coils from material as thin as 0.157” (4mm) up to thicknesses of 0.75” (19mm) or greater.

Why Cone Drive

  • Compact size for applications requiring power dense units
  • Modified standard units when required
  • Double input shafts, double output shafts or both
  • Hi quality steels used on worm shafts giving high tensile strength
  • Special materials allow for unique application solutions

Design Issue

  • Most roll formers use a series of worm gear reducers linked together input to input
  • Reducers will load share the applied power over the number of stands on the machine
  • Stands are the structure holding the tooling that creates the form of the product
  • Each stand can be driven by a dedicated reducer or a reducer could drive more then one stand
  • Stands could be linked by chain and sprocket

Location of the primary driver

  • Machines can be end driven or center driven depending on the number of stands
  • Location of the primary driver has an effect on the bending moment if the worm shaft
  • Important to review with engineering as bending moment should be confirmed to be within the limits of the worm shaft
